If you are looking for something a little different in accommodation for your next Swiss holiday, why not consider booking yourself into the Cold War nuclear bunker hotel. Or as the town of Sevelen like to call it, the world’s first zero-star hotel. But who are they kidding, a nuclear bunker is a nuclear bunker! Yep, the idea was the brainchild of twin brothers Frank and Patrik Riklin, who thought the town’s unused nuclear fallout bunker would be the perfect location for a b grade tourist hotel (who knew). But be warned, if you decide to make a booking, make sure you aren’t too claustrophobic because you will be spending your time several meters underground. And don’t expect any scenic alpine views because there ain’t no windows, just friggin monitors. So you can lie back on your military bunk and watch the world go by. Handy for when they get that doomsday machine cranked up again! Oh there are no mini bars either! But one of the things you get to look forward to during your stay is the spinning of the “wheel of fortune” which determines which guest gets the warm water shower in the morning. But like all great ideas there is always a catch! In the event of a nuclear war you may find yourself being thrown out of your water bottled heated bed in the middle night by the military, who have priority over all guests 24/7.From all reports the bunker has attracted interest from people all over the world.
