Holy bats Batman. A desperate call for help is ringing through Queensland’s hinderland after a mass of young bats were abandoned by their mommies. Yes, all up there are about 300 grey-headed flying foxes desperately needing tender loving care (you just need to get over the winged, vampire, blood sucking Dracula thing). Come on look at the photo, who could resist them! Trish Wimberley from Wildcare Australia and her 60 volunteers are working around the clock to feed and care for the young little pups but are just unable to keep up with the feeding regiment. The mass abandonment was due to fierce storms which ravaged the Gold Coast earlier in the week.Many of the young charges were suffering from hypothermia and dehydration when found.Anyone who doesn’t mind caring for a little baby bat please phone Wildcare on (07) 5527 2444.
