Not since Muriels Wedding has the Aussie Hills Hoist got so much attention. Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Kate Winslet and Sean Penn are just some of the Hollywood elite who may just end up hanging out their clean washing on the Aussie icon. Winners and presenters at the 2009 Critics’ Choice Awards, in Los Angeles are all gonna get one. Here is hoping they got friggin room in their limo? Hills Hoist I can hear you mutter. Well, it is a little Aussie gem that nearly every Australian backyard has had at some time. It’s a clothesline, but not just any old clothesline its “the world’s finest retracting clothesline” silly. The Hills Hoist is unique as in, it spins around in the wind, guaranteeing to dry your clothes faster,oh, except if it is raining, snowing or hailing. Then your clothes just stay out there spinning and dripping in the wind for days. It takes up copious amounts of space and has decapitation tendencies especially at night. Oh, but don’t fear, it comes with a nice winding handle allowing you to adjust the height to avoid such mishaps. If all else fails it is great for kids to swing on. So now that all the rich and famous will be getting one, I guess it will be damn right fashionable to own one now.
