Dude, drug taking in a rock band is so 1980′s. Hello JD fortune, they weren’t looking for a clone when they created INXS Rockstar. JD Fortune had the world at his feet, opportunity on a platter, support from a group who had been there and done that and what does he do? Falls right into the rock and roll trap, Cocaine. Now broke and living in a friggin car he is now pondering where he went wrong. Hmm, well if you ask ex lead singer (post Michael Hitchence) Jon Stevens he’ll tell you “(The show’s) main objective is money, money and greed,”.
Taking on the lead role of a band like INXS is a huge burden and one must have strong and broad shoulders. It would be no different to someone trying to fill the shoes of Mick jagger , too friggin hard. But all cudos to him, the kid tried but got eaten up with expectations, egos and impossible shoes to fill. Being dumped at a Hong kong Airport isn’t a dignified exit regardless of what lead to his sacking. I think given the bands history it could have been handled a little better boys .In hindsight maybe Jason Dean Bennison (pre JD Fortune) should have auditioned for American Idol instead?
It is a sad but ever repeated story, finding stardom and the industry eating you up.. left with nadda!
There are people out there that seem to keep their feet firmly planted on the ground, and I am not sure how they do it when they do make all their squillions.
you’re right. if the offer seems too good to be true, it probably is. beware, the only successful stars are those who have worked their way up, not those who are “discovered” overnight
