Imagine getting evicted for keeping Easter decorations on your door too long. Carol Burdick was given the big heave ho after she was asked to remove her plastic grass, cardboard cutout chicken, Easter stickers and her Peeps marshmellows from her door. Seems 17 days after the festive holidays is way too long to still be Eastering. No choccy eggs left in that pantry. After Burdick refused to be bullied by the Landlord she was threatened with lease violation claiming it was a sanitary issue. In response Miss Burdick made herself a little “Easter bunny survey” and gave it to all the tenants, who overwhelming supported her bunny door decorations. Despite this her decorations were unceremoniously ripped from the door. In protest Miss Burdick refused to pay her rent which eventually lead to her eviction. She is now fighting the matter out in the Colorado Courts. Her attorney is arguing “You can’t evict somebody for Easter bunny decorations,”. Geez, it wasn’t like she nailed the bunny to the door!
