Yesterday a fire ripped through Quakers Hill nursing home in Sydney, which was home to over 88 residents, most of which suffer from dementia. Firefighters describe it as their “worst nightmare” as they crawled through smoke filled halls rescuing the patients. What made the situation even more challenging was the fact that many of these elderly people were frail, bedridden and bewildered. The streets were lined with beds and ambulance as they ferried the survives to numerous hospitals around the area. Five people so far have died but the death toll is expected to rise as 12 are in a critical condition suffering burns and smoke inhalation. Today a 35 year old registered nurse, Roger Dean, has been charged with 4 counts of murder, after allegedly deliberately lighting the fire.
Psst A special mention should be made to the two young police officers who were the first to arrive on the scene. They rushed into the burning building without any protective clothing or breathing equipment to help rescue victims. Nearby neighbours also jumped fences and helped fire crews pull out the elderly. Take a bow, heroes.

How sad for all involved…. here here those heroic people… The nurse should be publicly hung… RIP for those that died such a horrendous death.
It’s hard to believe someone, especially a nurse, would deliberately set the fire. Very sad indeed. I guess it could have been far worse if it wasn’t for the rescuers.
Nurses are odd creatures let me tell you. I still sit here daily after five months and have had my eyes well and truly opened by NURSING staff.
Absolutely nothing surprises me now. I sent and email to The minister for Mental Health and Aged care and I actually got a response back yesterday. My soul has been saddened to see how the aged with dementia andothers are treated with such disrespect. I asked himto come out and visit the place but come unannounced as I’m sure nobody would even recognise him and get a first hand look at howthery are treated. One of the residents who died in that fire was 97 years old. How sad to reach that grand old age and perish in a fire. Shame on him!
Channel Seven, unbeknown, interviewed the guy who did it. They aired it this evening. Sheez, FF, he didn’t look at all concerned and was quite happy to describe the whole event. He has got to be mental!!!!
I wonder what the nurses motive was. What happen inside her head that made her think this was okay?
It was a bloke !
Man or woman, no differance. Humanity is equally capable of the same craziness. But thanks for the clarifiction.
Not only that, after lighting the sheets, Roger Deans then helped rescue the victims and then sort out the media for interviews. At first they made him out to be a hero
. One very sick puppy!!!
I suspect he’s a sandwich short of a picnic I bet he had an axe to grind with someone.
He is an effeminate Asian man with dyed red hair. He was like an Asian version of Perez Hilton…..not that there was anything wrong with that
Why do people do such terrible things. It never ceases to astound me when some mongrels does something like this. Terribly sad.
I used to live in Quakers Hill amny years ago. Just sayin’.
