You are 18, recently widowed and have a three month old son to take care of, when two men (one armed with a hunting knife) try to break into your house… what do you do? Grab your 12-gauge shotgun and shoot one dead, that’s what. Sarah McKinley first rang 911 begging for help when she realized intruders were breaking into her home. She then asked the dispatcher “I’ve got two guns in my hand – is it okay to shoot him if he comes in the door?” The dispatcher’s response was “I can’t tell you that you can do that but you do what you have to do to protect your baby.” With that, Ms McKinley shot  Justin Martin in the torso killing him. She will not be charged as it was deemed her actions were self defence.
