Oh dear, the moral of the story is never , ever try to rescue a seabird in South Wales or it might just peck your eye out. Just ask Michael Buckland. His right eye was punctured three times by a gannet’s 6 inch beak after he found it injured on a beach. All was going well until a terrier spied Mr Buckland carrying the bird under his arm then all hell broke loose and the bird went berserk. After the feathers flew, Mr Buckland was left with his left eyelid cut in two and his right eye hanging out of it’s socket.
Psst The bird didn’t make it either.
