Goodbye Philip Seymour Hoffman

Say it ain’t so. One of my favorite actors Philip Seymour Hoffman has died from an apparent drug overdose. The actor had been struggling with addictions throughout his life. Ironically, only a few days ago hoax rumours of his death had been spreading the internet. Gone too soon. Hoffman leaves behind his partner and three young children.

Sleep With One Eye Open

You know what I hate? When doctors are about to remove a dead woman’s organs and she suddenly opens her eyes. I would really friggin hate that! The woman, who had been admitted to a New York hospital following a drug overdose,  was pronounced brain dead by doctors and sent to have her organs harvest. This, despite signs she was only in a coma. Eyebrows were raised even higher when it was discovered the doctors gave her sedatives before the removal began. A practice not performed on a brain dead patient. The woman didn’t sue the hospital as she was severely depressed and later committed suicide.

RIP Mike Starr

If any of you watched Celebrity Rehab you may remember Mike Starr, ex bassist for Alice in Chains? Well, he died today of a drug overdose. Mike’s life spiraled out of control following his departure from the band in 1993. During rehab Starr expressed his extreme guilt over the death of Alice in Chains lead singer Layne Staley and confronted his demons by talking to Staley’s mom. Starr was the last to see Staley before he took a lethal speedball but didn’t call 911,  instead he stormed out as Staley shouted “Not like this, don’t leave like this”. Staley’s body wouldn’t be found for two weeks. Starr, in an effort to turn his life around, featured in Celebrity Rehab in 2010. Despite being sober for 6 months following the show,  Starr was arrested in Feb,2011, for allegedly being in possession of a controlled substance. A few weeks later the likable rouge was dead at 44. I really hope you have found your peace. What a talented life wasted.

UPDATE : It is being reported that Starr was mixing methadone with anxiety medication hours before his death. His roommate said Starr was trying extremely hard to stay sober

Brittany Murphy Dies

Actress Brittany Murphy has died of an apparent cardiac arrest in LA today, she was 32. Murphy starred in movies  Cueless, Just Married and 8 Mile. Reports say it was Brittany’s mom who found her collapsed in the shower and not her hubby who is too busy trying to prevent an autopsy. Over at Perez Hilton, he is wink, winking that she had a serious drug problem and that no one who knew her was at all surprised this happened. Hmm, what no intervention people?
