What Are The Chances?

You are recently married and have a serious kidney ailment. The kidney your mother donated several years before is about to fail the the only chance of survival is finding someone with a 99% kidney match (1% of the population) who is willing to give it over. You think, oh crap. Then the doctor tells you they have found a perfect match….your new wife!!! Seriously dude, you are one lucky bastard. Get well soon Jonathan Woodlief.

Swimming With Sharks

A New York woman who donated a kidney to save her boss’s life was allegedly sacked after surgery. Debbie Stevens has filed a complaint with the Human Rights commission claiming she was set up by her boss to get what she wanted then “took this gift and put it on the ground and kicked it.”

They Share More Than A Kidney

OK, this isn’t so much a random act of kindness as it is guilt, me thinks. A Turkish woman has received a life saving kidney from her hubby’s mistress. Evidently  Meliha Avci’s husband met Ayse Imda at the hospital where his wife was receiving treatment some five years ago and started the affair. Over the years Meliha had received blood donations from Ayse not suspecting the woman was also sleeping with her husband. Prior to the kidney offer Ayse fessed up . A grateful Meliha said “We have shared blood, we have shared my husband and now we are sharing kidneys,”

Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves!

Shouldn't this have been checked first?

OMG, remember those two sisters who were released from prison after 16 year so one could have a kidney transplant and the other could donate the kidney? Yep, them. Well anywho, seems there will be no transplant any time soon because they are both too fat and one has got to give up smoking before a doctor will even look at them. Jamie Scott has to lose 100 lbs and Gladys Scott another 60lbs plus quit smoking before they can  be tested  for compatibility. Well ladies you have a year to do it because that was the condition of release. Hmm, I can see where this is heading.

Kidney Transplant Via The Vagina

Here it comes!

Hey ladies, would you be tempted to become a kidney donor if they could remove it via  your vagina?  The Methodist Hospital  are going to study whether it is a safer and less painful way for a kidney donor to have their organ removed for a transplant op. Last year a doctor successfully extracted a kidney through a woman’s vagina (like she was having a baby) rather than by abdominal incision. The study will include analyzing the amount of bacteria the kidney must past through when coming out via the vagina!

Honey, Where’s Your Kidney?

Want to make a quick buck in Egypt? Well you can sell one of your kidneys for $5,000 but odds are you’ll get robbed before you get back home. Police have broken an organ trafficking ring involving Yemenis selling their organs to a doctor who works in one of the most prominent hospitals in Egypt. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) there are many organ trafficking gangs residing in Eygpt and offering the poor a good price to have their organs ripped out.  Many of the suckers who donate their organ usually get mugged as they make their way back home, kinda making it a futile exercise! Anywho, you’ll be pleased to know they have made 6 arrests so far and more expected!

It Was Just Bad Luck

So then what's that?

So how much is a kidney worth? Seems $5,000 because that is how much Dr Bernard Zaragoza was fined for accidentally removing a patient’s kidney instead of his gallbladder. OK people, sure the patient’s anatomy was all friggin messed up and his kidney was where his gallbladder should have been  but don’t they look different? Anywho, the Florida Board of Medicine panel decided the situation was pretty much “bad luck” rather than intentional and gave him a slap on the wallet wrist, so to speak.

The patient died three weeks later from heart failure.
