OK, here’s a bummer for anyone thinking of hiring a fat person or someone with health issues. A pizza shop owner will be forced to pay for his 340 lb (154kg) employee’s weight loss surgery because he needs that first before he can have another operation for the back injury he suffered while working at the pizza shop. Are you following this? Basically the Indiana Courts of Appeals have ruled that the Pizza owner has to foot all the medical bills. OK, here lies the problem, in 2007 Adam Childers, a cook at Boston’s The Gourmet Pizza, was accidentally hit in the back by a freezer door and sustained an injury (what, was the door the size of New England?). Due to the cook’s weight and the additional 40lb he gained following the incident, it was deemed too dangerous for doctors to proceed with any back surgery unless he had lap-band surgery first. The argument then was who footed the bill for the $25,000 weight loss surgery? Well, it seems the courts think the pizza shop owner does.
Psst Bye-bye jobs for fat people!
