OK people no need to panic but WTF, more friggin radioactive fish have been found in the Connecticut River. No seriously, all’s good except for the traces of strontium-90 (a radioactive isotope linked to leukemia and other cancers), found in the fish after testing. But on a brighter note Vermont Department of Health are reassuring everyone that the isotope is no way linked to the nuclear power plant which uses the river water to run through its condenser. Phew, that’s a relief! In a prepared statement the Health Department said “Concentrations of Sr-90 detected in the inedible portions of these fish are in the range of what would be expected as a result of fallout from nuclear weapons testing in the 1950s, and the Chernobyl release in 1986,” Sheez, might want to panic just a little!!
