Thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by the killer tornado which hit Missouri yesterday. Many of our regulars have family and friends in those towns, including Sekan Blunt Delivery and Mel. The number of injured has climbed to 1200 with the fear the death toll will exceed 120 with many believed still trapped under the rubble . The worst hit was Joplin where the tornado cut a path that was nearly six miles long & half a mile wide through the heart of the town destroying everything in its wake. The hospital took a direct hit and has been forced to close.
Psst For those who would like to help, please send donations to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, or call 1-800-REDCROSS.
Please spare a thought for the people of Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee who have lost homes and lives after monster tornadoes ripped through the southern states. The death toll is likely to exceed 200.
I’ll get you my pretty and your dog too! 50 mph winds and a suspected tornado in Chittenango, birthplace of the author of Wizard of Oz, L.Frank Baum, forced the cancellation of the “Oz-Stravaganza”. So very ironic. The storm blew away many of the vendors tents which were set up for the Oz festival. Even the real-life munchkins from the “lollipop guild” (yes, a few are still alive), who were guests of honor, were forced to batten down the hatches as the power went off. On a lighter note, one of the vendors proclaimed “We’re not in Kansas anymore,”
Hands up who wants to handle this case? The Achumba family are suing Honda for $10 million dollars because of the injuries they sustained after a tornado picked up their Odyssey and chucked it to the ground. Evidently when the car came back down to earth the side window shattered and sent glass flying everywhere, cutting the occupants to shreds. One of the children in the car lost an eye. Hmm, this despite the father saying he told his wife not to attend the “back to school night” because there was a tornado warning. Anywho the Achumba family are angry with Honda for not making their cars Tornado proof…kidding…they are pissed that they don’t use laminated glass on the side windows like they do on their windshields.Hmm, good luck with that!
Psst The trick will be to get the judge to look past the fact that you drove into a friggin tornado! Hmm, you should be grateful the car landed on all four wheels!
